Steamboat Lake Park
This beautiful man-made lake was created in 1967-68 with a 1,100-acre surface area reservoir at an elevation of 8,100 feet located in the Willow Creek Valley of the State Park Range. Steamboat Lake Marina reflects the majestic Hahn’s Peak named after Joseph Hahn. Hahn’s Peak was a center for gold mining in the 1860’s and reminders of the past can still be recognized in the towns around the base of the mountain.
During the winter months, the lake freezes over and the abundant snowfall transforms the surrounding area into a frozen playground. Ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing on 18k of dedicated non-motorized trails, big mountain backcountry skiing, and over 100 miles of groomed multi-purpose trails are all around the marina. The cross country ski trails begin a few steps from the cabins, and the multi-use trail system trailhead is located directly behind the marina building.
