Rapp Corral has offered custom horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter wonderland between Durango and Purgatory Ski Area since 1984. Sleigh rides are a great idea for family fun, a work party, a friends get together, or a romantic sleigh ride for two! We have five different sleighs! From our cozy two-person sleigh to the larger sleighs that can carry 10 adults comfortably, there is something for every group. If you have a really large group, we'll bring out a few of our sleighs at once to accommodate your needs. Just ask us when you call for reservations!
Come enjoy the jingle of the horses, the brisk mountain air and the amazing scenery with us! We begin our sleigh ride season as weather conditions allow (usually the second week of December), and then stop offering sleigh rides when conditions are no longer favorable (typically the last week in February). But check back with us because you never know what the weather will bring!
The Real Old Fashioned Sleigh Ride
Enjoy 45 minutes aboard beautiful handcrafted sleds pulled by the "big boys" in their bells and finery! We cover three miles through the beautiful winter snowscape of the Hermosa Cliff and Haviland Lake country. Hot chocolate is available at the corral and on those real frosty days a toasty camp fire warms your toes!
Departures: These rides are run daily on the hour by reservation only. The first sleigh leaves at 11:00am and the last sleigh of the day departs at 4:00pm.
Cost: The Real Old Fashioned Sleigh Ride is $40.00 per person, kids five and under are free.
A private sleigh for two is $100.00.
The minimum charge for any sleigh is $100.00
Santa Sleigh Ride
This special sleigh ride is only available December 17-24. Santa has a big list and needs to lighten his load before the big night! One special departure each evening leaves Rapp Corral for a short 15 minute ride at dusk. We return to the sleigh barn to twinkling Christmas lights and a large roaring fire. Hot chocolate is passed around while we wait for Santa's arrival in a one horse open sleigh complete with Christmas lights! Santa will personally deliver your child or loved one's special gift (that you secretly deliver to Santa's Elves prior to the ride). Make sure your gift is wrapped and labeled. This way Santa and his Elves can spend some extra time with your loved one! This sleigh ride is very popular and has always been a totally heartwarming experience for everyone! Sign up early!
Departure: Please deliver your gift by 5:00pm. (One of Santa's Elves will meet you in the parking lot for your special delivery) . The ride departs at 5:15 pm sharp. It will not work if you are late in delivering your gift...so please be prompt!
Cost: $25.00 per person. Kids under one year old are free.

Please give the corral a call at 970.247.8454 to set your time and date. We do not accept credit cards and all reservations are made on the honor system. So if you have a change in plans please let us know as early as possible so that we have the opportunity to rebook your sleigh. Please show up ten minutes before your ride...don't be late as we will be harnessed and waiting for you!
