Leadville Loppeton 2019-02-16
The Leadville Loppet held its first race back in 2003. The race was conceived by a few volunteers and put on by an event management class at Colorado Mountain College (CMC). The initial focus of the race was to showcase the newly dedicated Mineral Belt Trail and to utilize the race as a fundraising opportunity. With the unveiling of Leadville's newest jewel, it was understood that it would be of the utmost importance to have funds available to help care for the trail.
The Leadville Loppet has evolved as not only a fundraiser for the trail, but also as a way to introduce our visitors to the wonderful trail systems that we have. In addition to the Mineral Belt Trail, Colorado Mountain College also has a great trail network throughout the campus, with a distance of around 15km.
Come visit these trails year round, as you will find that there are many ways to enjoy them.
