Horseback riding in Colorado is an incredibly unique way to experience the terrain. Discovering the vast mountain ranges, riding alongside a creek, or loping across a meadow - it's easy to feel like you're in a movie or fairy tale.
Once you're in the saddle, you'll be able to enjoy short scenic trail jaunts, half day rides, all day rides, and even take part in competitive games in our 'Corral Capers' guest rodeo.
Don't worry if you've never ridden a horse before. There is really something for everyone with our horseback riding options for people of all ages and skill levels. Our staff and horses are prepared to easily accommodate both beginners and accomplished riders at Colorado Trails Ranch.
You'll have choices of morning and afternoon rides, or both. The lengths of these adventures can range from half day, chuck wagon lunch, and all day rides. Those looking for an exciting horseback riding vacation can also take part in a half day cattle drive, for a small additional charge.

Novices shouldn't worry or be shy.
Colorado Trails Ranch is used to introducing beginners to horseback riding. In fact, 80% of the guests who stay at the ranch have never been on a horse. With the guidance of our experienced wranglers and the right mount for your personality, you'll quickly learn the basics of riding and be comfortable exploring beautiful Colorado on horseback. Children can have instruction and ride with their peers. Naturally, their parents are always welcome to join in too.
Experienced riders will be pleased with the high quality of our horses, as well as the diverse, well-kept trails around the area. We have easy trails for beginners, and more challenging trails for guests with advanced riding skills.
One very special horseback riding vacation event at Colorado Trails is Horseman's Week that is held each September. Guests for this all adults week come from around the world to take advantage of the advanced lessons and equestrian training from the finest wranglers on our ranch.
For the well being of our horses, there is a weight restriction of 240 pounds for guests who wish to ride. If you have any questions about lessons, the facilities, our trails or events - please don't hesitate to give us a call. The staff at Colorado Trails Ranch will be happy to provide you with the information you need.
